Show 53 - Playlist 12/7/2011

The routine of gathering up the music is an adventure. Good to get down to the city and meet to see what's up while sipping a good cup of coffee. Sometimes we get loud and the stares turn our way and we just play it cause ideas come easy like that. We look to the old walls for a subconscious prompt cause we are both lost in more ways than one. All music morphs from the noise that swirls by and through us. Noise and voice are the music. Then the show is born.

Show 52 - Playlist 11/14/2011

Wild eyed. Wild haired. Factor in the wind and sketchy economic conditions and commonalities become too complex to solve. Thank the gods for the sparse snows and invites for a Thanksgiving dinner. In reality this marks the beginning of the craziest time of the year. Caroling could commence at any time, but there's a great sale on Halloween costumes, eggnog and snow tires. Too bad for me cause I need a new car battery. So, here's a spacey bit of music for you to haul around to your anywhere holiday destination. It's not a traditional playlist, but a mantra to a year ending in peace and love. I suppose it will also sound pretty good drifting on the warm Honokakua Bay breezes. Look it up on the map Jeff and let me know when you're there.  [107 minutes, 102.9 mb, 128kbps]

Show 51 - Playlist 10/30/2011

Numero 51 churned out under low light on a folding table. My advice… turn on this show as background for whatever you may be concentrating on cause it will get you by the rough spots nicely. Just blast this thru some earbuds and feel the stress drop away and see your workload magically completed as if an invisible workforce took over your duties. And exactly when you need it space out for a couple 12 minute tracks… supply your own daydream. The old guys say it builds character to just bone down and get it done. Nothing has changed so get to work! Stay tuned for episode 52 in a few weeks.

Truth is the outlaw government. A light of the future truth is part of the heavy beats and the old real. The outlaw ideas explore inside me. Who is and beats soundtrack me through the pain. My pieces wander the wasteland and I see the real rather than the outside. Profit wanders alone one step ahead of the night. My greatest thoughts are gone. I headed south toward 10th to ride the Canada & Chicago to a half dead Cheyenne switchyard and bailed out. I used all bit of something and crawled very dangerous to get my soup line. I kept bearings of the yard can be had near 8th but I finally made it out of there. Afterwards I cleaned up and threw my church behind.  [64 minutes, 61.1 mb, 128kbps]

Today's Vitamin Fuzz is a tribute to the dying days of summer. The sweltering haze has passed. The fans stand silent. The grasses are burnt brown. The sun sets early. Those cool, clear autumn days are finally a reality. A window of time to breath deep before the deep freeze grips my throat and sedates the memory of a year gone by. I welcome it all. For this listen line up some decent speakers or better yet go with headphones. Thanks to Jeff, Charles and Bardos for submissions. [118 minutes, 113.5 mb, 128kbps]

Distant hills shimmer in the heat as Phase 3: Agni Detonating Over The Thar Desert spins on the turntable. To my enjoyment the frequency of a fan mixes with the trak producing a hidden drone and a secret trip through the galaxies of my mind. Agni is the two-headed Vedic god of fire and the eldest son of Brahma said to have sprung from the mouth of the Virat purusha, the Cosmic Man. Thar is a desert spanning India and Pakistan. Now, that's cool!

VF #45 begins with a Radio Phnom Penh broadcast put out by Sublime Frequencies followed by some tracks I discovered as a result of an email from Ed in Chicago. After a 2 month search I finally found my Electric Wizard CD which inspired a series of doomy metal tracks that relate well to Lyd and Orange Disaster picks by Charles. The playlist pastes an outline for holiday relaxation, then slows to a crawl. Take it as a hint to devise a way to do the same to yourself. Please stand and remove your hat for the final track. Have a great Independence Day! [88 minutes, 84.1 mb, 128kbps]

Summer is setting in. The mornings are still cool, but soon that will give way to a prolonged period of heat. My fan will run all night and I'll lay there in the dark trying to sleep. One good thing I guess… if you've got your hair up in curlers you won't have to wait long for it to dry. And for some reason hot coffee still tastes good in the morning, but after that give me iced please. Look for a bench in the shade and just sip your java slow as you wait for sunset. VF #43 converts a seemingly endless coffee break into an atmospheric diversion. We sat way back in the corner sipping our coffee from porcelain mugs while comparing an assortment of tracks. An odd couple tucked away in the thin air of our minds giggling and trading headphones and pointing out the beat with an index finger. After the intro dialog had been recorded it was time to pack up and head out into an afternoon sprinkle. I don't understand why it is raining so much. I think the weather is stuck just like the general state of culture. For now just go with this. [86 minutes, 82.6 mb, 128kbps]

Intro Translation: The 60s seem comforting compared to the prevailing defeatist attitude, so I thought it would do everyone good to put on some old tracks with a positive vibe and then wrap it all up with some choices from the shelf labeled "Kraut." For good measure I flipped in another track off the new Moon Duo album Mazes. I'm looking forward to my return to the Cow Town and especially the chance to kick around the playlist of the next show with my friend Charles. Oh my where has the last month gone? Enjoy the show. Show 40 - Playlist 4/17/2011

You never know what's going to turn up. The last few weeks have been a test for me in more than one way and the task of creating a radio show seems to take the sting out of the really weird stuff. Music is a medicine, an inspiration and sometimes the only company you can find. This past Tuesday I finally broke away to pick up a copy of Mazes, the latest Moon Duo. Since I am a fan I can only say yes and I kick myself for not going to the Empty Bottle a week ago to hear them play. If you have a chance to see Moon Duo this Saturday in Denver at the Hi-Dive don't mess up, just go. This would be a great scene to bring a date and groove in a dimly lit corner to the vibe.  [89 minutes, 85.1 mb, 128kbps]

A few weeks back I brought up to Charles the idea to create a noise show. It was a natural as we both can deal with any kind of noise and the freakier the finer. This show has everything from the strange to sublime. I wouldn't suggest this as background music for your yoga class, but these tracks surely can dig to the headwaters of your soul during a boring train commute or a wine tasting party. To wrap it all up I added some of my favorite NOISE as the final track. Tune out, turn on, drop into the void of noise. Standby for a new show in a few weeks. Thanks to Dave for suggesting the addition of the timestamps. [100 minutes, 91.6 mb, 128kbps]

Weaving along Colorado Boulevard. Traffic is usually frustrating along this road except now winter is over. Luminous lunar clouds guide the first day of spring into my mind. It's a clean slate. I pull up and park. Charles walks over, opens the door and says, "Fridge is cool." We take off for 17th and Race and order up the usual cup of coffee and get a table and compare our music. Show 37 - 3/6/2011 Playlist

Put this show together with a bright clear afternoon sun in our eyes. Generous apple pie slices and coffee sat on a round diamond steel table with all the sound of urban 17th street filtering cross our diluted minds. This locale is becoming somewhat of a tradition in the pre-planning of each Vitamin Fuzz Radio episode. Various texting and rummaging thru blogs lend direction and by the time monday approaches we convene and construct a playlist while conversing whatever thoughts run over our minds. It all happens behind sunglasses and computer screens as friendly dogs eye what sort of scrap might fall. We keep an eye out for interesting folks or possibly a friend passing on the walk. Ah, such a relaxing way to view Denver's culture. Show 37 should fill the background for afternoon bookworms or a late nite toast on the patio. Our hope is to set the mood and bring you the sounds of something new. [106 minutes, 102mb, 128kbps]
