I usually make the rounds of various music sites to see if anything catches my eye and noticed a band named Fuzz on the Dusted List. Of course had to investigate. Turns out it's Ty Segall and two of his high school buds, Charlie Moothart [Culture Kids] and Roland Cosio [Epsilons], doing one of those side projects. So I hacked out a quick listen… then headed directly to my fav music store for a copy. It's been in my car ever since along with Physical Graffiti disc 1 and Sleepy Sun's Embrace. Fuzz brings the old-style Garage/Psych sound with a youthful twist and slams it down into the present reality. They call it Scuzz rock. Show 76 begins with a slew of artists influential to the Fuzz sound including the Deviants, The Scientists, The Troggs, Hawkwind and Galaxy 500. I took it upon myself to add a few more tracks just cause they fit so well. And yes, Neil Young and even Lou Reed were mentioned, just not on this playlist. More and more I'm believing Ty Segall is the real thing. He even abandons his guitar for a drum kit on Fuzz. AND Fuzz was recorded live. [92 minutes, 88.6 mb, 128kbps]
